12 – 15 March 2020
NewActon, Shine Dome, National Film and Sound Archive and Albert Hall
The theme for this year’s Art Not Apart festival is Today I, Tomorrow You, and organisers expect to draw more than 20,000 people in an extended four-day program.
The main event, on Saturday 14 March, will be a free contemporary arts festival featuring more than 200 artists from the Canberra region and beyond, presenting works traversing performance art, music, installations, visual art, street art, film and moving image.
The arts will be complemented by a Suitcase Rummage featuring over 70 stalls, street food, local wine tasting and a festival bar
To celebrate the festival’s 10th anniversary, a selection of ticketed events will also be held at the Albert Hall including an improvised jazz and projections concert on Friday 13 March, a wild performance art party after the main festival on Saturday 14 March, and a boutique electronic music event during the day on Sunday 15 March.
Festival producer David Caffery says, ‘it’s been an incredible journey for Art, Not Apart so far. In the nine festivals we’ve mounted since 2012, the festival presented over 2000 artists from the Canberra region and beyond.
‘Many of these artists have returned to perform or exhibit at the festival, and we’re proud to play a part in their development.” He also adds, “this year is Art, Not Apart’s coming of age – and a celebration of how far the festival has come.’
